Device information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers for compatibility and support purposes.
Local data: Data processed by Oakden products on your hardware remains on your hardware. We do not collect, transmit, or access this data unless you explicitly opt into cloud features.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

Provide, maintain, and improve our Services
Process transactions and send related communications
Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
Send product updates and service announcements (with your consent)
Detect and prevent security threats or fraud
Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage & Security

Oakden products are designed with a local-first architecture. The majority of your data is processed and stored on hardware you own or control.

Encryption: All data is encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit.
Local storage: Data processed by Oakden AI remains on your local device by default.
Cloud fallback: When cloud AI services are used (as optional fallback), we use zero-retention API providers. No data is stored by us or the third-party provider after processing.
Access controls: Role-based access with audit trails for all data operations.

4. Third-Party Services

We may use limited third-party services for payment processing (Stripe), analytics (Plausible — privacy-focused, no cookies), and email communications (Resend). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever.

5. Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to:

Access your personal information we hold
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent for communications at any time
Request a copy of your data in a portable format

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide our Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

Data stored locally on your Oakden hardware is entirely under your control and can be deleted at any time through the product interface.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through our Services or by email. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
