Voice Capture
Voice capture lets you speak instead of type across Oakden products. It is designed for real-world use on job sites, in homes, and anywhere typing is inconvenient.
How It Works
- Tap the microphone icon on any supported input field
- Speak naturally — describe what happened, ask a question, or dictate a note
- Your speech is converted to text using speech-to-text AI
- The AI structures the input if needed (for example, organizing a spoken daily log into weather, crew, and work sections)
- Review and submit the result
No special hardware is required. Voice capture works with the built-in microphone on any smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
Where You Can Use It
- Daily Logs — Speak your end-of-day summary while walking off the job site
- AI Chat — Talk to Arbor or any Oakden AI assistant by voice
- Notes — Add voice notes to projects, properties, or cases
- Field Reports — Dictate observations, issues, or progress updates on the go
- Diagnosis Descriptions — Describe your home issue to Oakden Property by speaking
On Mobile in the Field
Voice capture was designed specifically for field use. Construction sites are noisy, hands are dirty, and screens are hard to read in sunlight. Speaking a quick update is faster and more practical than typing on a phone keyboard.
Tips for field use:
- Speak clearly and at a normal pace
- Minimize background noise when possible (step away from heavy equipment)
- Use short, specific sentences rather than long rambling descriptions
- Review the transcription before submitting
Privacy
When Oakden's local-first deployment is active, audio processing happens entirely on your hardware using local speech-to-text models. Your voice data never leaves your network.
For cloud-hosted products, audio is processed by secure cloud speech-to-text services. Audio is not stored after processing and is not used to train third-party models.
Browser Support
Voice capture requires microphone access, which your browser will prompt you to allow the first time you use it. Supported on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on both desktop and mobile devices.
